The European Banking Union is fostering the harmonization of prudential regulation. The definition of non-performing exposures has been recently regulated by Eba and introduced in the Italian scene. The new regulatory framework and future developments in the field of measurement and impairment of loans have considerable impacts on credit functions, on creditworthiness evaluation, on customer relationship.
