In 2009, following a proposal by the Italian Association of Scholars of Economics and Management of Financial Institutions and Markets (ADEIMF), Bancaria launched a special section entitled Forum, devoted to original scholarly articles on banking, finance and insurance. Submissions undergo a systematic assessment and acceptance procedure known as double-blind peer review, in line with the practice adopted by the most prestigious international journals.
Articles submitted for publication in the Forum section undergo a systematic assessment and acceptance procedure known as double-blind peer review, in line with the practice adopted by the most prestigious international journals.
The peer-review process, established in agreement with ADEIMF (the Italian Association of Scholars of Economics and Management of Financial Institutions and Markets), requires the Editor of Bancaria to identify two potential reviewers for each paper submitted to the Forum section and submit their names to the Editorial Board, which may approve the proposal or nominate other reviewers. Reviewers are selected from among university lecturers and researchers, researchers working at research centres, and highly experienced practitioners.
Once the reviewers have been identified, papers are sent to them anonymously and they are asked to complete a detailed assessment form. Reviewers assess articles on the basis of their compliance with the following requirements:
- make a significant contribution to knowledge in banking and finance by addressing relevant, current and innovative topics;
- be based on a sound methodological framework;
- combine theoretical and empirical analysis;
- contribute to professional practice.
During the peer-review process, if the reviewers request amendments to the paper, it is returned to the authors so that they can make the necessary revisions, with a deadline set for resubmission of the revised paper to the editorial office. If the two reviewers provide conflicting assessments, a third reviewer is appointed.
Articles to be submitted for peer review must be sent to [email protected], specifying in the subject line that the authors wish to submit the paper to the Forum section. In the accompanying email, the authors must declare, under their own responsibility, that the article has not previously been published and will remain unpublished throughout the peer-review process.
The author receives email notifications concerning the commencement and progress of the peer-review process.
Since 2009, more than 300 reviewers have been involved: distinguished academics from leading Italian universities, as well as practitioners from supervisory authorities and financial intermediaries, selected by the Editorial Board for their specialist expertise in the subject matter addressed by the articles.
