Security is a top priority for the Italian banking industry. Starting with the physical security of bank branches. In 2024, Italian banks invested 461 million euro in the security of branches, more than 23,000 euros per branch. Clearly above the average of 420 million per year for the last 5 years. In fact, from 2020 to 2024, about 2.1 billion euros were invested for prevention and physical safety. «It is a fundamental challenge for the Italian Banking association and for the sector to promote the culture of safety – underlines Marco Elio Rottigni, General Manager of ABI – combining with a unitary and strategic approach physical protection and cyber defense».
