The rules on Fiscal monitoring, introduced in Italy in 1990, provide for a series of obligations for banks and for taxpayers, aiming at supplying concrete methods of control, for the Tax Administration, on international investments and related income, in line with the principle of taxation on a worldwide basis operating in Italy for residents. With Legislative Decree no. 73/2022, significant simplifications have been introduced for intermediaries involved in crossborder transfers of means of payment. The Budget Law for 2023 has then expanded the entities required to comply to Digital wallet service providers, and has included crypto-assets among the assets considered.
